The Black Stars are currently in Japan competing in the Kirin Cup. We had a number of celebrities who were unable to participate due to injuries or other ailments. We are well-stocked in all areas of the team. We have been particularly weak in the goalkeeping department as a team. That has been our issue for many years. What are the handlers of the national team doing to resolve the situation? When can we expect another Sammy Adjei or Abukari Damba?
All of the keepers we’ve had in the recent past haven’t been convincing, but we keep inviting them. Richard Ofori has flaws and needs to improve. Injuries have also been unkind to him. In the case of Ati Zigi,
The less you say about him, the better. He has been given numerous opportunities but has failed to persuade, despite the fact that he continues to be invited. Why are we ignoring the country’s bright young goalkeepers? Why are the local goalkeepers being overlooked? Some of them are far superior to Ati Zigi.
The World Cup is quickly approaching. If we do not address this issue, it will return to haunt us when we least expect it.
